The 7th Annual Piedmont
Pilots & Partners Annual Golf Classic will be held on Monday and Tuesday,
October 18th & 19th in Charleston,
S.C. Parties interested in playing may
register to enter at any time from Jan. 15 through September 15, 2004. Please
note that registration is for course reservations and planning purposes only
and should not be considered as an obligation to play or attend the reunion.
Registering early does have its advantages. The first 44 golfers
to register are guaranteed a slot, while numbers 45 and above will be
alternates based on the number of golfers the courses are able to accept.
Everyone registering will be assigned a number based on the date they
register. The numbers will then be used to determine cart assignments and tee
positions. For example, registration numbers 1 through 8 will tee off on the
number 1 hole, numbers 9-16 on the number 2 hole, and so on. Therefore, the
earlier one registers, the shorter he or she drives to his/her particular first
tee and the shorter the drive back to the clubhouse after the round.
Registration numbers will also be used later for determining the pairings and
assigning carts.
Registering is simple. To do so, send an email to Dash82002@aol.com and include YOUR
NAME, YOUR HANDICAP OR AVERAGE SCORE, THE DIVISION (Men’s Championship, Men’s
Seniors for men 63 and over, or the Ladies’ Division) THAT YOU WANT TO ENTER,
AND THE DATES YOU PLAN TO PLAY (Mon, Tues, or Both). NOTE: Entry fees are not due until September 20, and
registering now or later constitutes no obligation to play. YOU MAY CANCEL WITH
REFUND AT ANY TIME.
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
MONDAY’S FORMAT AND AWARDS: Monday’s play is tentatively planned
to be a Two-Man Team Best Ball,
handicaps will apply. Low team splits a $50.00 prize, more if we get enough
golfers. A $20 prize and trophy will be awarded to the golfer getting the
closest to the hole on each of the 4 par 3’s, and a $25 prize and trophy for
the golfer having the longest drive. Tee times that day are scheduled for 12 PM so as to allow time for everyone to attend the business
meetings between 9 and 11 that morning. A pairings sheet will be in the
hospitality room on Sunday PM and Monday AM for those desiring to select a
partner for Mon and Tues rounds.
TUESDAY’S FORMAT AND AWARDS: Tuesday is tournament day. Golfers
staying at the hotel may drive to the course or ride free via chartered bus
leaving between 8 and 8:15. Golfers and guests coming in for only
the Tuesday’s activities should plan to arrive at the Legend Oaks Course near Summerville, S.C., by 8:45 for a 9:15 tee time. The golf format will be the same as in previous
tournaments except for a few minor exceptions, e.g., max gross score on any
hole in the ‘04 tournament is a triple bogey. A PPPGA rule sheet will be
provided for each cart. As mentioned earlier, tee boxes will be assigned in
the order of registration date. Upon completion of
the round, scorecards are to be turned in at the place designated by the course
staff. All participants are invited to stay for the award ceremony, which will
be held as soon as the scorecards are tallied. All cash and prizes will be
awarded at that time. Closest to the pin and the long drive prizes will be the
same as Monday’s awards. Six each $75.00 and $50.00 Gift Certificates will be
awarded to both the First and Second place gross and net winners in each division
along with their appropriate trophies. Except for closest to the pin or the
long drive awards, no golfer may win both a low net and a low gross prize.
Everyone is eligible to win a low gross or low net award, but no one is
eligible to win more than one prize in any category. The awards mentioned
above will go to six different golfers.

Pictured above are two of the
trophies that will be awarded. The small trophy is for the Runner-Ups; large is
the First Place Winners.

REDEEMED FOR MERCHANDISE OR CASH (at a discounted price) IN THE PRO SHOP AFTER
THE ROUND.
The bus is tentatively planned to depart for the hotel no later
than 3:15 that afternoon, so the sooner we complete the round, the more
leisurely the AWARDS CEREMONY will go and the quicker we’ll get back to the
hotel to get ready for the banquet that evening.
As this year’s chairman of the golf tournament, I’d like to invite
any and all of the Silver Eagle members and their friends who still enjoy a
round of golf every now and then to come on down to Charleston and join us.
Some of you who’ve played in the past, but not recently, are sorely missed.
And it isn’t the golf so much as it is the OLD PIEDMONT CAMARADERIE.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to
contact me. THANKS,

BEETS
